🔎 Zalo is Vietnam’s most-used messaging app, and every Lunar New Year, it becomes the hub for sending digital wishes across the country. For Tết 2024, I was invited to illustrate a set of full-screen animated stickers, designed to surprise, delight, and bring a fresh GenZ twist to a long-standing Vietnamese tradition.
Tết is deeply traditional — but the audience isn’t. Zalo users range from older generations to GenZs, who crave something fun, relatable, and meme-able.
How do we make a centuries-old visual language like Đông Hồ painting feel young again, without losing its soul?
💡Đông Hồ folk art was re-imagined into new voices, GenZ expressions, and bold humor.
From a cat stressed about taxes, to Táo Quân playing doctor, each sticker brings a bite-sized story filled with cultural wit and visual charm.
